In a shocking turn of events in Charles County, Maryland, Omar Harrison, a 49-year-old man from Waldorf, has been arrested and charged with several serious offenses. The incident, which took place early on a Friday morning, has sent ripples through the community.

According to reports, Harrison was sleeping in separate rooms from his wife in a residence located in the 3000 block of Eutaw Forest Drive. Allegedly, Harrison poured a trail of gasoline down the stairs and ignited his wife's bedsheets, causing a fire. Fortunately, his wife and two children managed to escape unharmed and called 911.

The incident followed an earlier domestic dispute, during which Harrison is said to have threatened to burn down the home. Deputy State Fire Marshals later connected Harrison to the fire, leading to his arrest. Harrison is now facing charges of attempted murder, arson threat, first-degree malicious burning, and reckless endangerment.

Harrison was taken into custody during a later traffic stop and is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing. The case is still ongoing, and no further trial dates or developments have been announced as of early August 2025.

The seriousness of these charges could lead to significant prison time if Harrison is convicted. Authorities are urging the public to report domestic violence incidents to prevent escalation. No injuries were reported in this case, but the importance of addressing domestic violence cannot be overstated.
