Hurricanes crush Highlanders 50-7 in Super Rugby Pacific dominance

The Hurricanes dominated the Highlanders with a crushing 50-7 victory in Dunedin. The win extends their unbeaten streak against the Highlanders to ten matches. Three of their four games this season have ended in victory, keeping them near the top of the Super Rugby Pacific table.

The Highlanders started strong, with Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens crossing for their only try early in the match. But from that point, the Hurricanes took full control, scoring 50 unanswered points.

Fehi Fineanganofo was the standout performer, securing a hat-trick. His first try came after a perfectly placed cross-kick from Ruben Love. Devan Flanders also made an impact, sprinting 60 metres to add another five points. Cam Roigard contributed two tries of his own, while Bailyn Sullivan and Peter Lakai—who scored the team's 50th try of the season—rounded out the scoring. The result leaves the Hurricanes with three wins from four games in the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season. They sit just behind the Brumbies, who lead the standings with 14 points from three victories after three rounds.

The Hurricanes' tenth straight win over the Highlanders keeps them in strong contention early in the season. Their attacking display, featuring seven tries, underlines their form as one of the competition's top sides. The Highlanders, meanwhile, remain winless in their last four meetings with the Wellington-based team.
