Hurricane Imelda Slams Bermuda with Heavy Rain and Storm Surge
Hurricane Imelda, after an abrupt shift in course, has reached the Bermuda Islands, bringing with it hurricane-force winds and a dangerous storm surge. The Category 2 storm is expected to move over the island in the next few hours, with up to 100 liters per square meter of rain predicted, posing a significant flash flood risk.
The change in Imelda's course was influenced by Hurricane Humberto, which passed by earlier. Humberto, a significant storm tracked by various clima services, altered Imelda's path towards Bermuda. Imelda is now packing sustained wind speeds of 95 miles per hour and is expected to cause a dangerous storm surge with large and destructive waves.
Imelda's heavy rainfall and flooding in the Caribbean have already resulted in two fatalities in the eastern provinces of Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba.
As Hurricane Imelda continues to impact Bermuda, residents are advised to take all necessary precautions. The storm's heavy rainfall and surge pose serious threats to life and property. Authorities urge everyone to stay informed and follow official guidance.
