The control center of the Düsseldorf Fire Department received an increased number of calls starting midday, as the storm began to take its toll on the city. One of the first incidents reported was a tree falling over the street and the Anger in Kalkum. Using a chainsaw, winch, and crane, the fire department successfully removed the fallen tree, allowing water to flow freely again.
In Eller, a birch tree fell from a private property onto Hohenfriedbergstraße, damaging two parked cars. The Düsseldorf Fire Department was quick to respond, removing the fallen birch tree to clear the way.
Elsewhere in the city, the high-angle rescue team was deployed to secure and partially remove loose exterior cladding from a building on Moskauer Straße in Oberbilk around 15:12. The danger at this location was eliminated after approximately three hours.
Other incidents involved fallen trees or broken branches, loose roof tiles, or facade cladding. At Uerdinger Straße in Golzheim, a promotional banner came loose from the roof of a building during the storm. The fire department was able to secure the banner back in place.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the storm, but there were numerous cases of property damage. The number of deployments decreased significantly as the storm subsided.
While the search results do not provide information about the name of the organization involved in the removal of the fallen tree in Kalkum, the branches of the fallen tree were quickly cleared from the road.
The Düsseldorf Fire Department demonstrated their resilience and dedication during Storm Bernd, ensuring the safety of the city and its inhabitants. Their swift and effective response ensured that life returned to normal as quickly as possible.
