Hunting season in Monster Hunter Wilds is growing more challenging, yet the question remains: can this difficulty level revive the game's waning fan base?

Monster Hunter Wilds players can look forward to an exciting update on August 13, 2025, as Capcom introduces several significant changes aimed at improving the endgame experience and addressing quality of life issues.

Weapon Changes

The update brings a host of changes to the game's vast array of weapon types, with Dual Blades receiving a brand new move called the Turning Tidedrill. This finisher can be performed after the Focus Strike: Turning Tide, allowing players to drill into a monster's wound instead of riding down its spine.

Other weapons, excluding the Hammer, have been buffed with increased attack power and improved combo capabilities, making moves easier to link together. Light and Heavy Bowguns have also seen improvements, with elemental ammo made more powerful, and both types of bowguns benefiting from increased gauge recovery for various ammo types and improved handling and power of special ammo.

Game Mechanics Changes

Endgame content has been bolstered with the introduction of new 9-Star quests, featuring challenging Tempered Monsters such as Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala, Arkveld, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, and Seregios. Completing these quests will reward players with Appraised Talismans, which have completely random skills attached, including armor skills, weapon skills, and Decoration Slots.

Swimming and using items underwater have been made easier, particularly during encounters with Lagiacrus, while the duration of all cooked meals has been increased. Adjustments have also been made to several Armor Skills and Support Hunters, offering more strategic options.

Quality of Life Improvements

Efforts have been made to improve game stability, particularly on PC, with more updates planned for future patches. Future updates will also address texture loading and CPU load reduction, aiming to enhance overall performance.

What's Next?

The next major update for Monster Hunter Wilds, titled Ver. 1.021, promises to deliver an enhanced endgame experience, tougher tempered monsters, and more viable weapon options. Players can check out the full list of patch notes for this update on Monster Hunter Wilds' official website.

While the update does not address the issue of players being forced to sit through a mediocre story campaign hunting weak Low Rank and High Rank monsters to reach the endgame content, it's clear that Capcom is committed to making Monster Hunter Wilds an even more engaging and rewarding experience for players.
