Hamburger SV Set for First Bundesliga Game Since Return

Hamburger SV will make their long-awaited return to the Bundesliga with a 3:30 PM kickoff against 1. FC Heidenheim at the Volkspark Stadium. The team, who last played in the top flight back in 2018, have had a challenging start to the season, securing only one point from their opening three games.

Coach Merlin Polzin has emphasized the importance of a new tactical approach, focusing on defensive solidity and team virtues that the fans hold dear. This shift in strategy aims to address the team's offensive struggles, which have seen them create four goal chances but fail to score so far.

One player who could be key to turning things around is Jean-Luc Dompé, one of the few remaining performers from the promotion team. Dompé demonstrated his ability to be a difference-maker in the team's game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Polzin has singled out his qualities in one-on-one situations.

However, Hamburg will be without key players such as Poulsen, who is out due to muscular issues, and defender Jordan Torunarigha, who is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

The team's offensive woes have led to doubts about their Bundesliga suitability, but Polzin has urged his players to give their all, stating that their league position doesn't matter if they don't perform. This message has resonated with the squad, with the players openly discussing the need to step up their game.

In a bid to address the team's issues, the Leading Group, consisting of captain Yussuf Poulsen and defender Daniel Elfadli, held a meeting to review past performances. Elfadli has stated that the team needs to improve their play forward, create more chances, and occupy the box better.

The game against 1. FC Heidenheim could be pivotal for both teams, as they are the second-to-last and last-placed teams respectively. Despite Heidenheim's current pointless run, Polzin and Stefan Kuntz, the coach of Heidenheim, have asked for patience with their respective teams and the numerous new additions they have made.

As Hamburg look to get their Bundesliga campaign back on track, the focus will be on Dompé to lead the offensive charge against Heidenheim. If he can deliver, Hamburg may just be able to secure their first win of the season.
