Maja T's Solitary Confinement & Hunger Strike: A Cry for Justice in Hungary

Protests escalate: German citizen Maja T. contemplates hunger strike in response to continued isolation detention in Germany - Hungary: Maja T. from Germany vows to hunger strike in protest against solitary confinement

In a desperate plea, Maja T., a German antifascist activist, has started a hunger strike in a Hungarian prison, demanding fair treatment and extradition to Germany. Maja T., who identifies as non-binary, has been held in solitary confinement under harsh conditions since June 2024.

Maja's father, Wolfram Jarosch, states that solitary confinement for over 11 months is psychological torture and has deplorable living conditions, including constant video surveillance, sporadic visits, inadequate food, and an infested cell with bedbugs and cockroaches [1][2][5]. The new federal government must take action to bring Maja home, Jarosch declares.

The Hungarian prosecution accuses Maja of participating in attacks on right-wing extremists during the 2023 "Day of Honor" event in Budapest. The indictment details severe injuries, such as bone fractures, lacerations, and a concussion[1][4].

The Right-Wing Extremists' "Day of Honor"

At the time of the alleged incident, right-wing extremists in Hungary celebrated an episode from the end of World War II, commemorating the Wehrmacht's vain attempt to break out of a Red Army siege. The extremists consider this day a "Day of Honor," conducting annual celebrations [4].
