Tempers flare as Hungary-Ukraine drama unfolds, allegations of espionage shake things up! 🔥
Talks regarding the rights of national minorities between Hungary and Ukraine have hit a snag, according to Ukrainian media, with Hungary mysteriously postponing negotiations scheduled for May 12. Two former Ukrainian soldiers were nabbed for collecting sensitive military secrets on behalf of Hungary. The SBU alleges that this network was directed by a Hungarian military intelligence officer.

In response to these allegations, Ukraine ejected two Hungarian diplomats, prompting Budapest to retaliate with the expulsion of two Ukrainian diplomats. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó dismissed the Ukrainian claims as "propaganda" and denied receiving any official intel about the suspected network.
Things took a turn on Friday, as the Counter-Terrorism Centre swooped down on Budapest's city center, arresting a Ukrainian citizen for espionage. The National Directorate General for Aliens promptly banned the said suspect from stepping foot in Hungary. According to the Hungarian government, the suspect's nefarious activities jeopardized Hungary's sovereignty, warranting an immediate deportation shortly after the situation cleared up.
