Hundreds of rabbis and cantors accuse Trump of misusing anti-Semitism

A whopping 550 Jewish clerics made their voices heard through an open statement criticizing US President Trump for manipulating the matter of anti-Semitism for political purposes, instead of shielding the Jewish community in America.
Reports from Israel Hayom suggest that the statement was issued by two liberal Jewish organizations: the Israel lobby group J Street and the rabbinic group T'ruah. This comes at a time of escalating concerns from Jewish community leaders regarding the Trump administration's practices.
HIAS, a Jewish refugee aid organization, published a comparable statement a week prior, carrying signatures from more than 560 religious Jewish leaders, highlighting the rejection within the Jewish community of Trump's approach to anti-Semitism.
"The resurrection of this ancient loathing is disheartening, and we vehemently oppose it in all its forms," remarked the signatories of the J Street-T'ruah statement. "We must also be candid: the manner in which the Trump administration claims it is combatting anti-Semitism is not to safeguard Jews; it is instead to recklessly abuse the issue to polarize Americans, jeopardize democracy, and harm other vulnerable communities."
The signatories additionally attacked Trump's university policies: "Financially crippling universities, threatening to expel student dissenters, and employing Jews as excuses for authoritarian actions does not secure our safety; it undermines it. We rebuff these sinister attacks on higher education, establishments that have long been sanctuaries for Jewish academic and cultural life, under the pretext of protecting Jewish students."
They further objected to "the weaponization of anti-Semitism as a means of political ascendancy."
