🇮🇳 India's Shooting League Steps Onto the Global Stage
Buckle up, sports enthusiasts! The announcement of the first-ever Shooting League of India (SLI) is creating ripples across the world, set to revolutionize the shooting sports landscape. Here's what you need to know.
With over 400 athletes from an impressive 22 countries already registering for the league, it's gearing up to be a show-stopper. Countries such as India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran, Hungary, Croatia, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, Australia, Grenada, Italy, Australia, Austria, Serbia, USA, Spain, Thailand, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, San Marino, and Romania are readying their tightest shooting teams for this historic event.
The NRAI President, Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, is overjoyed by the league's remarkable reception. He shared, "We've received an astounding response, and it's truly a validation of our vision for the Shooting League of India."
The primary goal of SLI is to foster a world-class platform that showcases talent, encourages healthy competition, and inspires the next generation of shooters.
The competition, consisting of mixed team events, will span shooting disciplines like pistol (10m, 25m), rifle (10m, 50m 3 positions), and shotgun (Trap & Skeet), as chosen by the NRAI Technical Committee. At least six teams, grouped into two pools during the league stage, will be participating, with potential additions up to eight. The pool matches will be followed by knockout rounds, adding an extra dash of excitement to the event.
To ensure a perfect balance between elite experience and emerging talent, players will be categorized into four tiers - Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth Champions.
The first season of SLI is set to take place between November 20 and December 2, 2025, providing suspense and thrilling moments for spectators worldwide. NRAI and the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) are collaborating to create a TV-friendly format that will popularize Olympic-level shooting among global audiences.
