Humanitarian Organization Urges Instant Cessation of Militarized Actions in Gaza

In the midst of ongoing military attacks in Gaza, the Israeli army has ordered residents to leave certain areas. Amidst these dire conditions, with a scarcity of shelters, tents, clean water, and food for the displaced population, humanitarian aid organizations such as Welthungerhilfe are working tirelessly to provide relief.

Welthungerhilfe, one of the largest private aid organizations in Germany, is focusing its efforts on assisting malnourished children and their families in Gaza. The organization, politically independent and non-denominational, strictly adheres to the humanitarian principles of neutrality, humanity, impartiality, and independence.

Approximately 70,000 residents, along with local staff members, are trying to reach the south of Gaza through overcrowded corridors. However, many local staff members of humanitarian organizations, including some from Welthungerhilfe, have evacuated Gaza City with their families.

Welthungerhilfe condemns the evacuation orders and calls for an immediate ceasefire. Since its founding in 1962, the organization has supported over 12,000 overseas projects in about 72 countries and territories. In the current crisis in Gaza, Welthungerhilfe is providing aid in the most affected areas.

The southern parts of the Gaza Strip, where fighting is not currently taking place, are only about 60 square kilometers, roughly the size of Frankfurt Airport. Despite the limited space, Welthungerhilfe is working with national and international partner organizations to provide necessary aid.

Welthungerhilfe's mission is to strive for a world without hunger. The organization follows the principle of empowering people to help themselves. To date, Welthungerhilfe has provided aid worth 5.42 billion euros. The organization's efforts in Gaza are not limited to immediate disaster relief but also encompass long-term development cooperation projects.

As of now, more than 140,000 people have already fled Gaza since the beginning of August. Welthungerhilfe will continue to provide support in the southern parts of the Gaza Strip, focusing on assisting malnourished children and their families. The organization's commitment to its mission remains unwavering in the face of adversity.
