  1. FC Saarbrücken has signed Hugo Calderano, the world No. 3 table tennis player from Brazil. The move follows the club's recent German championship victory with TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Calderano brings top-level experience and skill to the team as they prepare for next season.

Calderano will return to the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) this summer. He is set to compete in the Bundesliga, Cup, and Champions League for his new club. Sports director Erwin Berg called him the ideal replacement for Darko Jorgić, who left the team.

  1. FC Saarbrücken has a strong record in European competitions. The club won the Champions League three times in a row, including in 2020. Since then, they have reached the semifinals and quarterfinals but have not added further international titles by early 2026.

Despite their European success, the team has only one German championship title, secured in 2020. Calderano's arrival aims to strengthen their domestic and continental campaigns.

The Brazilian star's signing boosts 1. FC Saarbrücken's squad for the upcoming season. He will feature in all major competitions, including the Bundesliga and Champions League. The club hopes his experience will help them challenge for more silverware.
