Hugh Jackman’s *Song Sung Blue* brings a Neil Diamond tribute act to life on screen

A new film about a Neil Diamond tribute act is now playing in cinemas. Song Sung Blue, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, tells the story of a real-life husband-and-wife duo behind the music act Thunder & Lightning. The movie opened nationwide on Christmas Day with a PG-13 rating.

Song Sung Blue follows Mike and Claire Sardina as they balance their personal lives with their careers in a Neil Diamond tribute band. The film draws inspiration from a 2008 documentary about the couple’s journey. Craig Brewer wrote and directed the project, which features a supporting cast including Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, and Jim Belushi.

For now, the only way to watch the film is in theatres. After its seven-week run, it will arrive on digital platforms via premium video on demand from January 13 to January 20, 2026. NBC Universal’s Peacock will then stream the movie around February 13, following its theatrical and digital release windows.

The film marks the latest collaboration between Jackman and Brewer, who previously worked together on The Greatest Showman. Moviegoers can catch Song Sung Blue in cinemas before its digital and streaming releases. The story blends music, marriage, and the challenges of keeping a tribute act alive.
