HSV Suffers Fourth Consecutive Defeat in Test Matches

Hamburger SV (HSV) is facing a challenging period, having suffered their fourth consecutive test defeat. The latest setback came in a 0:4 loss against Lyon last week, and a 0:1 defeat against SC Freiburg in the first game. In the second game, HSV showed more offensive flair, but still failed to find the back of the net.

HSV coach Tim Walter, known as Polzin, identified a need for improvement in the team's defense after the matches. He acknowledged that SC Freiburg is not HSV's benchmark and that they need to make big steps to compete with them regularly.

The first 70 minutes of the test showed that HSV can compete in the Bundesliga. Players like Otto Stange and Rayan Philippe created chances, but unfortunately, no goals were scored. In the second half, HSV made changes to the lineup, bringing in players such as Heuer Fernandes, Schonlau, Soumahoro, Agyekum, Jatta, Remberg, Megeed, Hefti (for Katterbach), Stange (for Yildirim), Glatzel, and Philippe. However, these changes did not significantly improve the team's performance.

The second game saw SC Freiburg equalize the Hamburg lead through Yussuf Poulsen (24./penalty) just before the final whistle of the first game. Lucas Höler scored the final point for SC Freiburg in the second game, while Patrick Osterhage also found the back of the net for the home team. Florent Muslija was instrumental in SC Freiburg's performance, scoring the first goal and setting up all three further SC goals in the second game.

Polzin was frustrated about the late equalizer in the first game, as it prevented HSV from winning. He believes that if HSV can combine their offensive play from the second half with their defensive play from the first, they are on the right track. The coach emphasized that playing against top opponents regularly will help prepare the team for the first matchday.

Despite the disappointing results, Polzin remains optimistic and is focusing on the team's progress. Nine goals conceded in the two games is too many for the coach's liking, but he is determined to address this issue and improve the team's performance ahead of the new season. Daniel Peretz started the test match against SC Freiburg in goal for HSV.

Despite the challenging run in test matches, Hamburger SV (HSV) aims to boost their defensive strategies to compete better in European leagues, having noticed a need for improvement in this area. Coach Tim Walter, known as Polzin, believes that if HSV can effectively merge their offensive flair with robust defense, they could potentially excel in high-level competitions.
