Hamburger SV's Injured Forwards Making Progress Ahead of Bundesliga Opener

Hamburger SV (HSV) is gearing up for their Bundesliga opener against Borussia Mönchengladbach next weekend, but the team is currently without the services of Yussuf Poulsen and Jean-Luc Dompé due to their ongoing recoveries from injuries.

The first competitive match of the season for HSV will take place this Saturday against a fifth-tier side FK Pirmasens in the Palatinate region. However, Poulsen and Dompé are not yet an option for this match, as Poulsen is recovering from a thigh strain, while Dompé is dealing with a sprained ankle.

Despite their absence, HSV has bolstered their squad in the summer transfer window, with the addition of Poulsen from RB Leipzig. Bakery Jatta and Immanuel Pherai are also still out for HSV, leaving the team short-handed for the DFB-Pokal match against FK Pirmasens.

HSV coach Merlin Polzin is hopeful that Poulsen and Dompé will return in time for the Bundesliga opener. According to Polzin, both players are making good progress in their recovery, and he emphasized that they are priorities for being ready at the start of the league season.

While Polzin did not give an exact date for their full return, the latest updates from August 20, 2025, indicate that they are close enough to potentially participate in the opener. The match against FK Pirmasens will be broadcast on Sky at 13:00 CET.

As HSV looks to kick off their Bundesliga campaign on a positive note, the return of Poulsen and Dompé will be a significant boost for the team. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on their progress in the coming days.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of the environment, echoing the team's efforts in ensuring a cleaner and greener Bundesliga. Meanwhile, football enthusiasts across Europe are eagerly anticipating the comeback of Yussuf Poulsen and Jean-Luc Dompé, with the pair's potential return to the pitch adding a touch of excitement to the forthcoming European leagues.
