Hrithik Roshan Congratulates Rajinikanth on 50 Years in Film Industry: You Were Among My Initial Mentors
In the world of Indian cinema, few collaborations have been as iconic as that between Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth. Their paths first crossed in the 1986 film, Bhagwaan Dada, where Hrithik, at the tender age of 12, played the role of Govinda, the adopted son of Rajinikanth's character.
Hrithik Roshan's Early Acting Career
Hrithik began his journey in the world of films at a very young age. His first uncredited appearances were in films like Aasha (1980) and Aap Ke Deewane (1980), where he was just six years old. Bhagwaan Dada marked his first speaking role as a child actor.
Working with Rajinikanth in Bhagwaan Dada
Directed by J. Om Prakash, Hrithik's maternal grandfather, and produced by his father, Rakesh Roshan, Bhagwaan Dada told the story of a noble villager, played by Rajinikanth, who adopts a young boy named Govinda (played by Hrithik). The film featured a strong ensemble cast, including Sridevi, Tina Munim, and others.
Their collaboration in Bhagwaan Dada was a significant early milestone in Hrithik's career and laid the groundwork for his future success. Their paths crossed again in a competitive sense decades later with the box office clash between War 2 and Coolie in 2025.
Coolie: Rajinikanth's Upcoming Collaboration
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, marks Rajinikanth's 171st film. The film is set to release in theaters in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, but the exact release date has yet to be specified.
In addition to Rajinikanth, Coolie stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Shoubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Aamir Khan. This will be Rajinikanth's first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Meanwhile, Hrithik is returning as Major Kabir in the film War 2. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and backed by Yash Raj Films, War 2 also stars Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. It is scheduled to release in theaters on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
The journey of Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth in the Indian film industry is a testament to their enduring appeal and the power of their on-screen chemistry. From their early days in Bhagwaan Dada to their future collaborations, their story continues to be one of the most fascinating in Indian cinema.
