HPNLU Shimla Wins 16th Gujarat National Law University Moot Court Competition

The 16th Gujarat National Law University International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) 2025 concluded successfully from September 24 to 28. The event saw 72 teams battling it out, with Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla emerging victorious.

The moot problem this year centred around complex trade issues, including non-tariff barriers and technical barriers in trade agreements, as well as violations of sanitary and phytosanitary principles between two WTO members. The winning team from HPNLU consisted of Ashpinder Kaur, Priyanshu, and Rimzhim Kheda, who also won the Best Orator in the Final Rounds award.

The competition was judged by esteemed legal professionals, including Prof (Dr) James J Nedumpara, Prof Krista Nadakavukaren, Pallavi Bajaj, Santanu Mukherjee, and Ashish Chandra. The team from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) secured the runner-up position.

In addition to the main awards, DY Patil Law College, Pune received the Best Written Submissions award, and Ishita Bharadwaj of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) was recognised as the Best Researcher.

The 16th GIMC 2025 proved to be an intense and insightful competition, providing a platform for law students to hone their skills and engage with intricate legal issues. The winning team from HPNLU and other awardees have set high standards for future competitions.
