Residents in Lower Saxony will soon have a new way to manage tax appointments. Starting January 2, 2025, all tax offices in the region will offer online booking. The system aims to make scheduling easier for both in-person and phone consultations.
The online service will be available through the existing portal Mein Elster. This platform already lets users file tax returns, submit applications, and send notifications. Now, it will also handle appointment bookings for all tax offices across Lower Saxony.
When reserving a slot, residents can pick between face-to-face meetings or telephone calls. The system covers general tax questions, but more complex issues may still require help from tax advisors or wage tax assistance services. For broader support, the Lower Saxony tax office hotline remains available. Finance Minister Gerald Heere called the change *another important step toward a digitised administration*. No official reason has been given for why the service begins only in January 2025.
The new online booking system will launch on January 2, 2025. It will provide a simpler way to arrange tax office visits or calls. The service complements existing digital tools while keeping traditional support options in place.
