Cities Pay Thousands of Euros for Christmas Trees - How Rhineland-Palatinate Cities Spend Thousands on Christmas Trees

The festive season is approaching, and cities across Rhineland-Palatinate are preparing their Christmas tree displays. This year, Worms is spending around €8,800 on its trees, while Mainz allocates between €7,500 and €10,000 for its single central tree. Meanwhile, Bingen finds a budget-friendly solution by involving sponsors.

Worms, with a population of around 83,000, puts up an impressive display with two large trees standing at 14 and 12 meters tall, along with an eight-meter tree in each of its 13 districts, and an additional 50 smaller trees in the city center. In contrast, Mainz sticks to a single central tree, which it has done for years. The cost for Mainz includes setup and dismantling.

Kaiserslautern, with a population of about 99,000, takes a different approach. It relies on donations for its large central tree, with residents offering suitable trees. The city also sets up around 150 smaller trees in the city center.

The Christmas tree budgets and displays vary across the region. Worms spends around €8,800 for multiple trees, Mainz allocates between €7,500 and €10,000 for a single tree, and Kaiserslautern relies on donations, demonstrating the diverse approaches cities take to celebrate the festive season.
