How Portuguese voice actors brought *Monsters, Inc.* to life in dubbing

Portuguese voice actor João Baião and his colleague Paulo Oom share their experiences dubbing the hit 2001 animated film 'Monsters, Inc.' in an episode of the 'Era Uma Voz' podcast. The film, directed by Pete Docter, explores the power of laughter over fear through the story of Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan, two monsters working at an energy factory powered by human children's screams.

João Baião, known for his theater background before transitioning to television and dubbing, voices Mike Wazowski in the Portuguese version of the film. Meanwhile, Paulo Oom, a veteran voice actor and director with over 30 years in the industry, has lent his voice to numerous iconic characters, including Puss in Boots, Pinocchio, the Grinch, and Bugs Bunny. In 'Monsters, Inc.', Oom voices various characters, but not Mike Wazowski, whose German voice is provided by Christoph Maria Herbst.

The film's plot revolves around Mike and Sully's adventures, including their encounter with Boo, a human child who accidentally enters the monster world, causing a mix of chaos and hilarity.

The 'Era Uma Voz' podcast episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at the dubbing process of 'Monsters, Inc.', with João Baião and Paulo Oom sharing their insights and experiences. The film, which showcases the power of laughter and friendship over fear, continues to entertain audiences worldwide.
