How One Mom's Annual Nashville Getaway Became Her Perfect Pre-Mother's Day Ritual

A mother of two has spent the past two years celebrating the Saturday before Mother’s Day away from home. This time, she chose Nashville for a girls’ trip with a friend. The city’s mix of lively attractions, walkable streets, and a thriving food scene made it an easy pick. The trip began on the Thursday before Mother’s Day. The pair stayed at Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville, where a ‘Mom and Me Weekend’ package was on offer. Their first stop was R+R Wellness at Grand Hyatt Nashville for a spa treatment.

Over the weekend, they explored some of the city’s highlights. A visit to the National Museum of African American Music was followed by drinks at The Spot by Dre and Snoop. They also spent time at the 1865 Club, a members-only venue, and later enjoyed the bustling bars and live music along Broadway. For dinner, they headed to 888 Nashville, a Japanese restaurant combined with a vinyl lounge. The evening ended at Vibes Bar & Lounge, where hip-hop tracks set the mood for a night out. This tradition started two years ago, when the author first decided to spend the weekend before Mother’s Day at a hotel. She now sees it as the perfect gift—time away from her children to recharge.

The trip wrapped up with a mix of relaxation, music, and good food. Nashville’s compact size and variety of activities made it a smooth choice for a short break. The author plans to continue the tradition, trading family duties for a weekend of her own each year.
