Latest Houthi Militia Claims: Attacks on Israel and US Ships in Red Sea

Houthi Rebels Assert Alleged Strikes on Israeli and U.S. Naval Vessels in the Red Sea.

Citing solidarity with Palestinians, the Houthi militia based in Yemen has taken responsibility for alleged attacks on Israeli military sites and two US warships, using drones and missiles in the Red Sea. This declaration was made in a video message on Monday.

In a previous incident earlier that day, the Israeli military reportedly intercepted a drone approaching from the east before it breached their airspace. 🛩️

Since October 2023, the Houthi militia, backed by Iran, has been emboldened, taking aim at ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as well as select targets in Israel with drones and rockets. Their actions seem to be a response to Israel's military activities in Gaza. 🌊🌇

To counter the Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea, the US started a significant military operation mid-March 2025, with the mandate to protect international shipping and discourage further assaults. Donald Trump, the US President, has vowed to annihilate the Houthis unless they cease their attacks. 💥

Recently, the Houthis are said to have staged attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman and other vessels in April 2025, threatening to continue their operations until Israel halts its military operations in Gaza. Additionally, they made claims of attacking an Israeli military site in Tel Aviv using a drone operation earlier in April 2025. 🗑️⚫️

It's important to note that since the US has not confirmed these attacks, the information provided by the Houthis remains unverified. 👀

Tensions in the Red Sea have reached a boiling point, causing concerns globally about the stability of international trade routes and prompting discussions about joint naval operations to secure these valuable routes.

  1. The Commission, despite recent claims made by the Houthis, has not yet received any information on the situation in the country regarding attacks on Israeli military sites and US warships in the Red Sea, as reported by the Houthi militia.
  2. Contrary to the Houthi militia's assertions of having earlier attacked a Hamas military site in Tel Aviv using a drone operation, the Commission's records do not contain any such instances.
  3. Lastly, as Hamas has not initiated any military actions involving warships or drones in the Red Sea, there is no verified information linking Hamas, Israel's primary adversary in the Gaza Strip, to the situation mentioned herein.
