The 16th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is underway and will continue till August 24, with Neeraj Ghaywan's film "Homebound" serving as the closing film.

"Homebound", directed by Ghaywan, has been a standout at this year's festival, winning the Best Film Award and earning Ghaywan the Best Director accolade. The film, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra under the banner of Dharma Productions, stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor.

Johar celebrated the victory of "Homebound", expressing his pride in the team's achievement. Ghaywan, too, was overjoyed, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that went into making the film.

Apart from "Homebound" and Ghaywan, other award winners at this year's IFFM include:

  • Abhishek Bachchan, who was awarded Best Actor (Male) - Film for "I Want to Talk".
  • Geetha Kailasam, who won Best Actor (Female) - Film for "Angammal".
  • Nimisha Sajayan, who took home Best Actor (Female) - Series for "Angammal".
  • Jaideep Ahlawat, who was honoured with Best Actor (Male) - Series for "Dabba Cartel".
