In the ongoing trial against Sean "Diddy" Combs (55), the centerpiece is the 2016 hotel surveillance video showing the music mogul attacking his former partner, Cassie Ventura (38). A hotel employee claims to have been paid big bucks to acquire the damning footage.
Following a barrage of severe accusations, including sexual assault and human trafficking, CNN released the incriminating video in May 2024[3]. The footage revealed Combs assaulting Ventura in a hotel in 2016, and later, he issued an apology through a now-deleted Instagram video[1]. In September, the hip-hop icon was arrested on charges of sexual offenses and has been in custody since. For over two months, he's been on trial for allegations of sex trafficking, extortion, and promoting prostitution.
Security Guard: Diddy's "Hidden Angel"
Recently, a hotel security guard claimed, according to the Washington Post, that Combs paid him and his team $100,000 for the surveillance video[4]. Eddy Garcia declared that Combs contacted him multiple times, saying, "You sound like a good guy, like you want to help, and something like this could ruin me."
Initially, when Garcia told the rapper he didn't have access to the video, he later contacted him and said his superior was willing to delete the material for $50,000. "Eddy, my angel, I knew you could help," Combs supposedly responded. The following day, they allegedly met, and Garcia handed Combs a USB stick containing the video, assuring him it was the only copy. He also claimed to have signed confidentiality agreements.
Throughout his testimony, Garcia further detailed that Combs paid a total of $100,000: $50,000 went to his superior, $20,000 to an involved colleague, and $30,000 to him.
Ventura has already testified against Combs numerous times, depicting a relationship marred by violence and manipulation for years[2]. According to her account, she didn't resist in the hotel at the time due to Combs' potential escalation of violence.
