A hotel's surveillance video from 2016 depicting Diddy, aka Sean Combs (55), in a heated altercation with his former sweetheart, Cassie Ventura (38), has made a comeback in court. A security guard reportedly claims Combs shelled out a whopping $100,000 to get hold of the footage.
Since spring of 2024, accusations against Combs have snowballed, including sexual misconduct, human trafficking, and more. CNN aired the incriminating footage in May 2024. The video left no doubt about Combs' nasty encounter with Ventura. Despite apologizing in a since-deleted Instagram video, Combs was arrested in September on grounds of sexual harassment and remains in custody to this day. His trial for sex trafficking, extortion, and promoting prostitution began in May.
Testimony from a So-called "Guardian Angel"
According to the Washington Post, a hotel security guard has testified that Combs paid him and his colleagues $100,000 for the security video. Eddy Garcia reportedly stated that Combs reached out to him frequently: "He said I was a good guy, and he knew I wanted to help, and that this video could ruin him."
At first, Garcia claimed he had no access to the video. However, later, he informed Combs that his supervisor was ready to erase the footage for a mere $50,000. Combs reportedly replied enthusiastically, hailing Garcia as his "angel." The following day, Garcia supposedly handed over a USB stick with the video to Combs, mentioning it was the sole copy. He also claimed that he was supposed to sign non-disclosure agreements.
During his testimony, Garcia added that Combs eventually paid $100,000: $50,000 to his superior, $20,000 to an accomplice, and $30,000 to him personally.
Ventura has already taken the witness stand several times to describe her complex relationship with Combs, marked by violence and manipulation for years. On the day of the altercation, she claimed she did not resist because Combs threatened to become "even more violent."
