Hotel magnate Yuri Burlacho advocates for extending the zero VAT rate on lodging establishments until the year 2030.
In the heart of Russia, the Krasnodar region is experiencing a surge in tourism, with an array of new facilities and attractions drawing visitors from far and wide. This summer season, the region is buzzing with activity, as investments and government initiatives continue to shape its tourism landscape.
One of the region's focal points, Anapa, is still grappling with the aftermath of a tanker spill in the Black Sea. However, despite this setback, Anapa remains a focus of attention in the region, with its 59 balneological and sanatorium-resort facilities continuing to attract visitors. The resort town is currently undergoing significant renovation, with the construction of three five-star hotels and major renovation projects underway.
Elsewhere in Krasnodar, the tourism sector is thriving. Kuban, in particular, remains one of the most visited regions by tourists. This year, an additional 2.5 million day visitors have been recorded, bringing the total number of guests to over 6.5 million since the beginning of the year, marking a 5% increase.
The region's resorts host nearly 11,000 accommodation facilities with a capacity of approximately 250,000 rooms. Over 300 four and five-star hotels, 86 all-inclusive hotels, and more than 200 sanatoriums cater to the needs of these visitors. For those seeking a more peaceful vacation in nature, more than 100 campgrounds and glamping sites are ready for guests.
The Krasnodar region is one of 55 regions that will receive 15 billion rubles from the Russian government from 2025-2027 for the creation of modular accommodation facilities, including hotels, glamping sites, and campgrounds. This investment is part of the government's 2025-2027 program, which aims to boost domestic tourism.
In addition to these new facilities, the region offers a variety of alternative vacation destinations. There are 75 tourist attractions, 12 tourist routes, and 15 wineries accepting guests. These attractions, along with the region's rich history and culture, provide a diverse range of experiences for tourists.
The State Duma of Russia has extended the zero rate of VAT on accommodation services in tourism facilities until the end of 2030. This move is intended to stimulate domestic tourism development and support the resort industry of the country and the region.
ZSK deputies, in cooperation with the regional administration, provide legislative support to sanatorium-resort enterprises. This support, combined with the extended VAT exemption and the government's investment in modular accommodation facilities, is expected to further boost Krasnodar’s tourism sector in the near future.
The region's beaches in Anapa and Temryuk District remain closed due to the tanker spill. However, the resilience of the region's tourism industry is evident, with the sector continuing to grow and adapt in the face of challenges.
As the Krasnodar region benefits from large-scale investment projects and national policies promoting modular accommodation development and tax incentives, its tourism infrastructure, attractiveness, and capacity are all set to improve. With its beautiful landscapes, rich history, and diverse range of facilities, the Krasnodar region is poised to remain a popular destination for tourists for years to come.
