Hosts Guest Meetings with Deputies from Nicaragua and Algeria
In the heart of vibrant HCM City, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn hosted meetings with foreign dignitaries. Among them were Nicaragua's Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke and Algeria's Minister Mujahedeen and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga, who were in Việt Nam to partake in the festivities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975-2025).
Welcoming Minister Jaentschke and his Nicaraguan comrades, Deputy PM Sơn acknowledged that despite the physical distance between the two countries, Việt Nam and Nicaragua share a rich history of solidarity. Strong bonds exist between the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) and the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), as well as between the two governments and the peoples of both nations.
He applauded recent achievements of the Nicaraguan government and its people under the leadership of President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, expressing his conviction that Nicaragua would continue to thrive under the stewardship of the Nicaraguan government and the FSLN.
In return, Jaentschke expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the Nicaraguan government's delegation at the celebration. He lauded Việt Nam's remarkable progress over nearly 40 years of Đổi Mới (Renewal) under the CPV's visionary guidance, stating that the shared aspirations for independence, freedom, and social progress provide a strong foundation for closer bilateral ties.
Jaentschke also thanked the Party, State, and people of Việt Nam for their unwavering solidarity with and support for the Sandino revolution and the people of Nicaragua. He underscored that Nicaragua particularly admires President Hò̀ Chí Minh and the CPV's leadership, both during the struggle for national independence and the present process of reform and development. He affirmed that Việt Nam's accomplishments serve as a shining example and source of inspiration for the Nicaraguan government, the FSLN, and the people of Nicaragua.

On the subject of bilateral relations, both sides expressed contentment with the advancements made in political, economic, and trade ties. They acknowledged the potential for further collaboration in areas such as trade, science and technology, culture, education, construction, and climate change response.
They pledged to collaborate actively in implementing measures to boost the effectiveness of cooperation, promising to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, maintain regular political consultations between the two foreign ministries, and finalize legal frameworks to facilitate collaboration in mutually beneficial fields. Both countries also agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral forums, while supporting each other in strengthening ties with the other's region.
The meaningful discussion was followed by the Nicaraguan minister extending an invitation to Deputy PM and FM Sơn to visit Nicaragua at a convenient time. The host happily accepted the invitation.
The meeting with Algeria's Minister Mujahedeen and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga saw Deputy PM Sơn express gratitude for the minister and the Algerian delegation's participation in the event. He emphasized that Việt Nam always cherishes the solidarity and invaluable support extended by the Government and people of Algeria during the country's liberation struggle and ongoing development.

Minister Rebiga expressed his honor and delight in representing the Algerian Government at this historic celebration, affirming that Việt Nam's struggle for independence had inspired many African nations, including Algeria, to rise up and achieve their own independence. He declared that Algeria attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.
He also expressed admiration for Việt Nam's robust development, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. He suggested convening the Việt Nam-Algeria Intergovernmental Committee to discuss concrete steps to enhance bilateral ties.
To strengthen and deepen the friendly bond between the two countries, Deputy PM Sơn suggested increasing mutual visits, especially high-level ones, and boosting coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums. He also proposed focusing on cooperation in fields such as energy, agriculture, and the development of Việt Nam's Halal industry.
On this occasion, he requested the Algerian Government to facilitate Vietnamese investments in Algeria, particularly in the expansion of the Bir Seba oil and gas project, which could serve as a representative symbol of effective economic cooperation and solidarity between the two nations.
The two sides concurred on the importance of strengthening people-to-people and cultural exchanges, with an emphasis on educating younger generations about the heroic histories and resilient struggles of both peoples.
