In a shocking turn of events, a football match between Nippes 78 II and TuS Makkabi Cologne ended in controversy, with allegations of antisemitic and violent incidents against the players from TuS Makkabi.

The public prosecutor's office in Cologne has filed charges against Nippes 78 II following the reported incidents. The chairman of Makkabi, Witek Krymalowski, reported the case to this authority and also informed the sports court of the Middle Rhine Football Association, as well as the North Rhine-Westphalian Commissioner for Antisemitism, Sylvia Löhrmann.

TuS Makkabi Cologne has also filed a complaint with the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office. The allegations were announced on Instagram by Makkabi Germany and Makkabi Cologne in a statement.

According to the statement, two players were allegedly spat at during the match. After the final whistle, other players were physically attacked, including being choked, beaten, and having their hair pulled. A spectator reportedly punched one of their players after the game.

Cengiz Kirat, head of football at Nippes 78 II, has denied the allegations of antisemitic and violent incidents. Kirat asserted he did not hear any incidents during the game and claimed nothing happened that Makkabi reported. Another club official, Cengiz Kirat, also stated he did not witness any attacks after the game.

The sports court of the Middle Rhine Football Association has been informed about the incident, and the North Rhine-Westphalia's antisemitism commissioner, Sylvia Löhrmann, has been informed as well. It is unclear whether an explicit denial of the allegations has been provided.
