However, the situation took a turn for the worse when Eli, offended by Kit's earlier actions and the revelation of their relationship, spread false rumours about Sarah, accusing her of being a sexual predator. This led to trouble for Sarah both personally and professionally.
The events also strained Sarah's relationship with Kit, as he faced disciplinary action for his behaviour. Kit was put on desk duties due to accusations of intimidation, which were fueled by Eli's complaints.
The situation affected others as well. David Platt inadvertently contributed to the crisis by giving Kit's details to Eli. Additionally, DI Costello's behaviour raised suspicions about potential corruption within the police department.
Meanwhile, other storylines unfolded in the background. Ronnie worried that Debbie was pushing herself too hard, and Ronnie got Ryan to come in on his day off to help Debbie. At the Chariot Square Hotel, Ronnie watched Debbie at work.
Cassie asked Steve to demonstrate his pole dancing moves, and Steve, unable to resist, performed them in front of Cassie. Tyrone returned home to find Steve and Cassie in a state of undress, leading to a horrified reaction.
