Hospital security personnel detained and dismissed for vandalizing Prime Minister Modi's poster in Chandigarh.

In an unexpected turn of events, a security guard based at the civil hospital in Sector 45, Chandigarh, faced the wrath of authorities after he was caught defacing a promotional poster featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The incident was unfolded on the morning of April 11.

The culprit, a 31-year-old resident of Rajpura in Patiala, identified as Gurpreet Singh, found himself on the receiving end of consequences after vandalizing the poster that was part of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme campaign, aiming to promote the 7th "Jan Aushadhi Diwas" event in March. According to eyewitnesses, Singh drew a black dot on the Prime Minister's forehead and marked both ears with a sketch pen.

Discovering the defaced poster, local BJP leaders like Prince Bhandula, the president of the BJP Medical Cell, Chandigarh, reported the incident. The BJP district president, Ravinder Malik, added weight to the issue by bringing it to the attention of patrolling police officials. Concerned about the incident, Senior Medical Officer Dr Navneet Kanwar filed a complaint with the station house officer of the Sector 34 police station, seeking legal action.

The police acted swiftly and registered an FIR under Section 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007. During the initial stages of questioning, Singh confessed to being instigated by friends to execute this act as a prank. However, during further interrogation, he allegedly tried to falsely implicate his neighbor1, a claim currently under verification by the police.

Despite the charges being bailable1, Singh was arrested on Saturday. The hospital administration promptly terminated his services to uphold discipline and decorum within the premises. Dr Suman Singh, Director of Health Services, Chandigarh, mentioned, "A case has been registered, and Singh has been permanently removed from duty."

It's crucial to note that there exists confusion with another individual by the same name, unrelated to the current case, who is involved in criminal activities5. This article refers explicitly to the security guard Gurpreet Singh connected to vandalizing the poster.
