In a heartwarming ceremony on Monday, Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Bronzeville, Chicago, dedicated a new plaque to commemorate the birthplace of Pope Leo XIV. The Pope, whose birth name is Robert Prevost, was born at the former Mercy Hospital, now under the stewardship of Insight Hospital.

The ceremony took place at the hospital's main entrance, marking a significant moment for the institution and the city of Chicago. The event was attended by hospital staff, local dignitaries, and members of the media, who gathered to witness the unveiling of the plaque.

The plaque, a testament to the hospital's historical significance, reads: "Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Prevost, was born here on September 14, 1952." The ceremony was followed by a video presentation, showcasing a Portillo's chocolate cake being brought to Pope Leo to commemorate his first birthday as head of the Catholic Church.

Pope Leo, who celebrated his 70th birthday on the same day, was not present at the ceremony. However, a separate event was held at his childhood home in Dolton to celebrate his birthday. A video of this event, as well as the cake presentation at the hospital, can be found online.
