Horw Honors Olympic Heroes Fähndrich and Deschwanden in Grand Celebration

Hundreds of residents in Horw came together to celebrate two local athletes who won Olympic medals. Nadine Fähndrich and Gregor Deschwanden were honoured for their achievements at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. The main event drew dignitaries and enthusiastic crowds waving flags in support.

The celebration took place at the municipal multi-purpose hall, where Fähndrich and Deschwanden arrived in style. A vintage 1924 team vehicle carried them to the event venue, greeted by cheers from the gathered crowd.

Fähndrich secured a silver medal in the 9-kilometre team sprint, competing alongside Nadja Kälin. This marked her third Winter Olympics, with Milano Cortina 2026 being her latest appearance. Deschwanden, meanwhile, earned bronze in the normal hill ski jumping event, making his Olympic debut.

Among the attendees were prominent figures, including Lucerne's government president Michaela Tschuor and former Swiss Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi. The crowd showed their pride with applause and congratulatory flags, honouring the athletes' hard-earned successes.

The event highlighted the community's support for Fähndrich and Deschwanden. Their medals—silver in cross-country skiing and bronze in ski jumping—added to Switzerland's Olympic success. The celebration in Horw marked a proud moment for both the athletes and their hometown.
