New Horst-Schlämmer film by Hape Kerkeling hits cinemas in March - Horst Schlämmer returns to cinemas in a hilarious quest for happiness

Comedian Hape Kerkeling is reviving his beloved character Horst Schlämmer for a new film. Horst Schlämmer in Search of Happiness will hit cinemas on March 26, 2026. The fictional deputy editor-in-chief of the Grevenbroich Gazette returns with a mission to lift Germany’s spirits.

Horst Schlämmer first appeared in the early 2000s, becoming a fan favourite for his quirky humour. His debut on the big screen came in 2009 with Horst Schlämmer: I’m Running for Chancellor!. Now, the character is back, determined to tackle what he calls Germany’s 'bad mood epidemic'.

The film promises a mix of satire and heart, as Schlämmer takes on his most ambitious challenge yet. Audiences can expect the same offbeat charm that made the character a household name. Tickets will be available ahead of the March 2026 release.
