Horse trainer Alan King teams up with owner Rich Ricci for the first time, marking a surprising collaboration in the world of flat racing.

In the world of horse racing, there are some horses that stand out as course specialists, and Quercus, a eight-year-old horse trained by Ann Duffield, is one such example at Catterick. On August 5, 2025, Quercus will be bidding for a seventh track victory on his 24th start at Catterick in the 6f handicap (4.00).

Quercus, who has won seven times and has five second-place finishes and two thirds at Catterick, is a familiar face at the track. However, specific details about the horse's training routine or jockey selection remain undisclosed. For comprehensive information on these matters, dedicated racing stable reports, trainer interviews, or industry sources related to Catterick races are recommended.

Meanwhile, at Newbury, Moe's Legacy, trained by Ron Harris, aims to continue its purple patch when bidding for a four-timer in the 5f handicap (7.15). Moe's Legacy will face 11 rivals, including the in-form bottomweight Filly's Last Lady. Jason Watson, who has been successful on Moe's Legacy, will ride the daughter of Havana Grey. Moe's Legacy will need another step forward under a 5lb penalty to secure another victory.

Another horse to watch at Newbury is Evie Ross, a horse trained by Clive Cox. Evie Ross is running in a two-year-old race (excluding nurseries) at Newbury (5.30). Clive Cox has enjoyed success at Newbury this year, with a 2-5 record in two-year-old races (excluding nurseries), resulting in a £33.50 profit for level-stake bettors.

Elsewhere, Foxy Girl, trained by Henry de Bromhead, will make her debut in the 2m1⁄2f beginners' chase (6.55) at Roscommon. Foxy Girl has had four chase starts and finished second at Naas in March, ahead of last week's Galway Plate hero Western Fold. Despite a promising start, Foxy Girl has not won since December 2022 and faces six rivals in the race, receiving 7lb from five of them.

Lastly, Pompette, a son of New Bay and cost 65,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale in April, will make its debut at Wales under the Ricci-owned polka dot silks. Rob Hornby will ride Pompette in the 71⁄2f maiden (2.45).

These horses and races promise an exciting day of horse racing, with Quercus's quest for a seventh Catterick victory and Moe's Legacy's bid for a four-timer being particular highlights.

Horse racing sports will feature Quercus, a course specialist, in the 6f handicap at Catterick on August 5, 2025, as he bids for a seventh track victory on his 24th start. Meanwhile, at Newbury, Moe's Legacy, a horse in top form, will aim for a four-timer in the 5f handicap, offering an exciting day of horse-racing events.
