The 32nd annual Kentucky-Ohio "Battle for the Border" All-Star basketball doubleheader took place on Saturday at Thomas More, and it was a night full of exciting moments and close games.

In the girls' game, Jada Cummins and Aniyah Carter started for the Kentucky team, scoring five and six points respectively. Caroline Eaglin, who will be attending NKU, was the most time on the floor for a Kentucky player, scoring five points. However, it was Ohio All-Star Aaron Gutman who stole the show, leading all scorers with 23.3 average this season. Gutman scored 13 points in the game and made a crucial basket with 7.2 seconds left to tie the game at 109.

Unfortunately for Kentucky, their free throw shooting was poor, with a four-for-14 performance, including misses on six of their last seven down the stretch. Despite this, Ohio All-Stars scored 93 points, while Kentucky All-Stars scored 69, resulting in a significant victory for Ohio.

The boys' game was a nail-biter, with the final score being 110-109, in favour of Ohio after a buzzer-beating step-back three-pointer by Trey Perry. Perry, who plans to become a "knockdown shooter from three," was named the game MVP. Until Perry's buzzer-beater, Kentucky had a lead since 14 minutes were left in the first half.

Cooper's Andy Johnson did not participate in the boys' game, while EJ Walker will be attending South Carolina of the SEC after high school. Aaron Gutman, who is still waiting to hear from colleges about his future, and EJ Walker took over for much of the final 3:00 of the game for the Northern Kentucky pair.

Mike Walker, an assistant coach for the boys' game, was excited about the opportunity to work with head coach Steve Page and share the bench with his son. The scoring summary for the boys' game shows Ohio All-Stars scored 110 and Kentucky All-Stars scored 109, with Ohio winning by one point.

Overall, the Kentucky-Ohio "Battle for the Border" All-Star basketball doubleheader was a thrilling event, filled with talented players and close games. Despite the losses, both Kentucky teams put up a good fight and showcased their skills on the court.
