The launch, announced on the 22nd of February, 2024, in Crieff, has limited the release to just 220 bottles, a number that represents the C-Type's total horsepower. This highly exclusive whisky is a nod to the intricate links between the drink and the machine it celebrates, as the cooperation between The Glenturret and Jaguar Classic is not new, but this release underlines their continued commitment to honoring heritage and pioneering achievements.
The Jaguar C-Type, renowned for its remarkable triumphs in the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans, introduced disc brakes to the world, setting a new average speed record and etching its mark indelibly in motorsport history. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of this landmark, Jaguar Classic has unveiled two exclusive C-type Continuations as part of their Continuation program, featuring unique specifications that echo the craftsmanship and history of the original models.
Crafted by Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno, the limited edition single malt has matured for a minimum of 32 years, blending liquids drawn from a selection of five casks. The blend showcases The Glenturret's expertise by demonstrating the influence of Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads and a single Pedro Ximenez sherry-seasoned American Oak hogshead. This harmonious blend witnesses a spectrum of flavors, offering a complex and refined palate, with rich fruits, aromatic spices, sweet vanilla, light oak, sweet ginger, cinnamon, treacle, sultanas, ripening apple, wood spices, sticky ginger cake, dates, raisins, subtle oak, liquorice, and sweet aromatic notes.
