Honoring the Victims of the Vancouver Attack: Mark Carney's Tribute

In the aftermath of a heart-wrenching incident, Canada's PM, Mark Carney, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with bereaved families, following a fatal vehicle-ramming attack that left ** eleven souls shattered** and around twenty injured souls, struck down in Vancouver.

Underneath a moonlit sky, Carney joined the provincial premier, David Eby, his beloved, and an emotional congregation of citizens gathered to honor their fallen brethren, their mournful faces illuminated by the soft glow of candles, toys, and scattered flowers strewn about.

At the memorial site's edge, Thelma Jalbuena, a woman of Filipino descent, tpaid her respects, her eyes brimming with tears. "I had friends among the victims," she told The Devoir between sobs, explaning that she had left the Lapu-Lapu festival Saturday afternoon, prior to the attack. "I live nearby, so I was roused by the ambulances' sirens during the night."

Before stepping forward, Carney sought solace in St. Mary The Virgin Church, bowing his head and making the sign of the cross in reverence.

Earlier, a man, driven by malevolence, rampaged through festival-goers at the Lapu-Lapu street fair, a grotesque scene that now sees him facing eight counts of murder.
