Mike Pence Nabs John F. Kennedy's Courage Award

Hold onto your hats, folks! Mike Pence, former Vice President turned hero, is about to receive the prestigious John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. This badge of honor is bestowed upon public officials who show some serious political guts, and Pence sure does fit the bill.

Back in 2020, the election results were up in the air, and the then-President Donald Trump was pushing Pence to overturn the results from swing states. Trump claimed, without evidence, that the vote was rigged. Pence, however, stood his ground and refused, stating he did not possess the authority to do so.

When a horde of Trump supporters breached the Capitol, they were none too pleased with Pence. Some even chanted, "Hang Mike Pence!" But our man Pence ain't scared. He was whisked away by the Secret Service, narrowly avoiding a scuffle with the rioters.

Pence's decision to stand by the Constitution - and not Trump - earned him a gold star in our books. And now, he's about to get some hardware for it. The JFK Library Foundation has announced that Pence will receive the award at the JFK Library in Boston.

The Profile in Courage Award was created in honor of JFK's 1957 book of the same name, and it recognizes public officials who take principled stands despite the potential political or personal consequences. Other winners include former Presidents Barack Obama, George H.W. Bush, and Gerald Ford, among others.

Pence seemed pretty darn pleased about the situation, saying, "I have been inspired by the life and words of President John F. Kennedy since my youth, and I am honored to join the company of so many distinguished Americans who have received this recognition in the past."

Pence has been stepping up to the plate lately, taking on the Trump administration and expressing his political views more openly. He formed a political action group called Advancing American Freedom, which recently campaigned against the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the nation's health agencies.

As for Pence's politics, he's been labeled as one of the few Republicans willing to go toe-to-toe with the Trump administration. He's been delivering speeches urging the president to stick with longtime allies and penning articles about the limits of presidential power.

So, it looks like Pence is making a name for himself in the political world. And, let's be real, who wouldn't want to earn a kudos from JFK himself? The Profile in Courage Award honors political courage, and Pence demonstrated just that. Hats off to Mike Pence!
