Honored Guest: Ambassador Oleksii Makeiev Inducted into the City's Honour Roll
In a show of solidarity, the city of Göttingen, Germany, has announced its continued support for Ochtyrka, its partner city in Ukraine.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) are set to provide a sports field, sports equipment, solar panels, and a generator, worth 120,000 euros, to Ochtyrka in March. This comes as part of the city's ongoing aid measures.
Ambassador Oleksii Makeiev expressed his satisfaction with Göttingen's aid measures and thanked the city for the upcoming donations and aid shipments. In a video speech, Ambassador Makeiev also thanked Göttingen residents and administration for initial aid, specifically mentioning vehicles, material donations, and medications.

In February 2025, the German federal government announced humanitarian aid and reconstruction support for Ochtyrka, including financial assistance and material supplies to help rebuild infrastructure and support affected civilians. Three fire trucks filled with material donations will be handed over to Ochtyrka in February 2025.
Mayor Petra Broistedt of Göttingen welcomed Ambassador Makeiev and assured further aid and support for Ochtyrka. She assured Ambassador Makeiev that Göttingen's support would not end for Ukrainians on site or for the people of Ochtyrka.
