His win is for his outstanding portrayal of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in the biographical drama "The 12th Fail."

The film, produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is based on the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, a man who overcame extreme poverty and educational setbacks to become an IPS officer. The story follows Manoj's journey from a village in Madhya Pradesh to becoming a dedicated and honest law enforcement officer.

"The 12th Fail" highlights Manoj’s perseverance in overcoming societal pressures, poverty, discrimination, and corruption as he prepares for and succeeds in one of India's toughest competitive exams, the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exams. The film's themes include determination against adversity, the fight against systemic corruption, the impact of poverty and social inequality, and the pursuit of dreams through hard work and integrity.

Vikrant Massey's performance in the film was widely praised for its authenticity and dedication. He thanked the audiences for honoring his performances and recommending "The 12th Fail" with love.
