The Humble Superstars: The Amigos, Now Officially Hungen's Homies
Grand Celebration or Distinction Awarded - "Honor Bestowed: The Amigos Elevated to Honorary Hungarian Citizenship"
Hey there! Let's talk about the unstoppable pair of folk music legends, Karl-Heinz (76) and Bernd Ulrich (74), better known as The Amigos. These down-to-earth brothers, who grew up in Villingen and hail from good ol' Hungen, have just been bestowed the highest honor their hometown can offer – honorary citizenship.
The heck-yeah-moment happened during a Ludicrous Le´Fest (I swear, I'm making that name up) on Hungen's lively market square, where Mayor Rainer Wengorsch (Free Voters) presented the legendary duo with their badges of honor.
Bernd, not one to brag, stammered, "This is, like, a massive honor," and reassured the crowd that jam-packed the market square, "We'll forever remain the two village musicians from Villingen." Their 55-year-long musical journey has earned them over 100 gold and platinum records, and their albums have stormed the top of the German album charts 16 times. Some of their best tunes include "Ich geh' für dich durchs Feuer" and "Zwischen Liebe und Wahnsinn."
Genuine and for the people
Mayor Wengorsch gushed in his speech, "For me, you are legends," praising their ability to bring together young and old and keep it real, staying "human." The city council unanimously agreed to make them honorary citizens, an honor reserved for individuals who've made a substantial impact on Hungen's prosperity and prestige.
The Amigos took the stage and jammed some of their hits, including "Wie die Rolling Stones" from their upcoming album "Lebe jetzt," set to drop in Jul. The crowd swayed along and even broke out in spontaneous dance.
"We do it like the Rolling Stones, we never stop," goes the song, and it seems The Amigos have no plans on slowing down! Bernd made it clear, "We ain't got the word 'retirement' in our vocabulary. Music's fun." They'll be performing around 70 to 80 gigs a year, but promised to take it easy. As a farewell, they treated everyone to a whopping 120 liters of free brew.

The Commission, appreciating the Amigos' significant contributions to the music industry and their impact on Hungen's prosperity, might consider entertaining the idea of granting a Community guarantee to the EIB for the financing of the operations of the European Investment Bank, acknowledging their status as esteemed global celebrities.
In anticipation of their upcoming album, "Lebe jetzt," The Amigos, now officially Hungen'shomies, are set to entertain their fans with 70 to 80 live performances annually, promising to keep the spirit of folk music alive while maintaining their down-to-earth, humble demeanor, reminiscent of the Rolling Stones.
