In a recent court case, Japanese actor and former member of the boy band ONE N' ONLY, Kenshin Kamimura, was convicted of indecent assault in Hong Kong. The case involved Kamimura harassing a female interpreter who worked with him during a celebratory dinner in March 2025.

During the trial, the interpreter testified via live video link, affirming Kamimura’s actions. The defense argued that the claims were exaggerated and that the bathroom invitation might not have been improper. However, Magistrate Peter Yu found Kamimura guilty, stating that his actions were disrespectful towards women and implied a sexual undertone with indecent intent.

Kamimura was fined HK$15,000 (about $1,900) and avoided prison time. The defense had asked for a lighter sentence, citing Kamimura’s previously promising career and the consequences he had already faced.

The incident and verdict had a strong emotional impact on fans. Some were visibly upset at the conviction, while Kamimura appeared relieved at avoiding jail time. Ardent fans inside and outside the court were in tears upon learning of Kamimura’s conviction, and some broke down in tears.

The celebratory dinner followed a fan meet where the woman worked as an interpreter for Kamimura and others. The incident occurred during the dinner, with the court hearing that Kamimura touched the woman's thighs multiple times against her objections.

Kamimura was expelled from ONE N' ONLY shortly after the allegation. Chen, a 30-year-old screenwriter and fan who gave only her last name, came from northern China to watch the court session. She mentioned that the trial has had a negative impact on Kamimura’s image and has incited "public outbursts of vitriol against the artist".

Judge Peter Yu added that the victim would have suffered an unpleasant experience in silence had she not refused to remain silent and courageously come forward. Kamimura hugged his court translator upon hearing he would be fined without facing jail time.

In summary, Kenshin Kamimura’s recent court case centers on his conviction for indecent assault in Hong Kong related to inappropriate conduct towards a female interpreter during a work-related event, leading to a significant legal and professional fallout for the former idol.
