In a heartfelt pre-Victory Day visit, Omsk region Governor Vitallyy Hozenco and Omsk Mayor Sergey Shelest paid tribute to war veterans.
On Monday, May 5, 2025, the regional head and city chief congratulated ALEKSEY SOLODYUK, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, on the approaching triumph and expressed gratitude for his contribution to the victory and subsequent work. SOLODYUK was presented with a certificate, ribbon, and pin badge entitled "Honorary Citizen of the City of Omsk."
A child laborer in a collective farm during the war, ALEKSEI EMIL'YANOVICH helped support the front.
Furthermore, Hozenco and Shelest bestowed the honorary title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Omsk" upon NIKOLAI MAI'DAN, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. SOLDIER MAI'DAN was also thanked for his upcoming celebration and displayed profound appreciation for his military and labor path.
NICKOLAI MAI'DAN was conscripted into the army in 1944. His military career began with the 52nd infantry regiment of the Transbaikal Front in the spring of 1945.
According to the governor's and Omsk region's press service, the 97-year-old MAI'DAN will also receive the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Omsk" for his service in the 80th Victory Anniversary celebrations.
As a reminder, war veterans received a one-time payment of 255 thousand rubles prior to May 9th.
