In a significant move to uphold law and order and address the issue of illegal construction, a joint operation involving the Israel Police, Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and municipal authorities has been launched in the Negev region. This operation forms part of a broader policy aimed at restoring sovereignty and eradicating the phenomenon of illegal construction not just in the Negev, but throughout the country.

The operation has been met with resistance from local residents, with reports of disturbances during an enforcement activity. According to sources, dozens of residents have ignited structures and tires in an attempt to prevent the police forces from carrying out demolition orders.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has made a statement regarding the operation, affirming that it is a step towards taking back the lands of the Negev. His statement also indicates that the policy includes restoring sovereignty in the region.

Minister Ben Gvir further emphasised that the operation in the Negev is a central pillar in the policy of restoring sovereignty. The operation aims to eradicate the phenomenon of illegal construction, ensuring that the rule of law is upheld and that the lands are used in a manner that benefits the entire nation.

The Israel Police have also confirmed using riot control measures in the Negev region during the operation. Despite the challenges faced, the authorities remain committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that the Negev region, and the country as a whole, is free from the blight of illegal construction.
