FC 08 Homburg Announces New Signing: Armend Qenaj
FC 08 Homburg has made their first major signing for the upcoming season, bringing in Armend Qenaj from 1. FC Saarbrücken. The young midfielder, who started his career at TuS Koblenz, has shown impressive form in recent years, particularly in the Regionalliga Southwest and the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar.
Qenaj, who was initially trained in the youth ranks of TuS Koblenz, has a rich history with the club. After returning to Koblenz in 2020, he played a total of 62 games, scoring eight goals and setting up 14 more in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar. In the following season, after TuS Koblenz's promotion to the Regionalliga Southwest, Qenaj remained a regular starter, playing 31 games and scoring three goals while assisting three times.
The 22-year-old Qenaj has already proven his qualities in over 50 regional league games despite his young age. In the current season, he has played 26 games for SGV Freiberg, scoring three goals and setting up two more.
Head coach Roland Seitz described Qenaj as a "good kid who is still in the development phase of his career." Qenaj himself expressed his happiness and gratitude about joining FC 08 Homburg, stating that he aims to achieve the club's goals and continue to develop with them. He also looks forward to many beautiful moments with the team and the fans of FC 08 Homburg.
Qenaj's career took a significant turn in 2018 when he moved to the youth team of 1. FSV Mainz 05. He also made one appearance for the Kosovar U16 national team in September 2018. After a short stint at SGV Freiberg in the summer of 2024, Qenaj has now signed a contract with FC 08 Homburg that will keep him with the club until June 2027.
With Qenaj's addition, FC 08 Homburg looks poised to make a strong showing in the upcoming season. Fans can look forward to watching this promising young talent contribute to the team's success.
