Holzbüttgen's Annual Shooting Festival Kicks Off With Children's Event
The annual shooting festival in Holzbüttgen is set to kick off with a bang, as the children's shooting festival takes centre stage. The 'Circus and Acrobatics Show' will commence at 3:15 pm, followed by a march of kindergarten and school children to the festival site at Marienplatz. The event, a highlight of this year's festival, is an initiative inspired by the shooting brothers in Grefrath and is organised by the St. Aloysius Schützenbruderschaft.
The 'Shooting King', S.M. Stephan I. (Hedwig), will be on hand to distribute gingerbread hearts as awards to the participating children. The festival is a collaborative effort involving the DJK, Protestant and Catholic communities, the St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood Holzbüttgen, and the city of Kaarst. The St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood aims to attract new members by implementing this children's shooting festival.
The royal couple Stephan and Bettina are looking forward to the 'most beautiful days of the year' and are eager to participate. Boys and girls will march together through the town, fostering enthusiasm for the shooting tradition. The festival begins on Friday, August 5, at 3 pm at the parish center. S.M. Stephan assures that he is available for the children and has prepared for their possible questions.
The children's shooting festival is set to be a memorable event, bringing together the community in celebration of the shooting tradition. With the support of various organisations and the royal couple, the festival promises to be an exciting and inclusive experience for all participating children.
