Holy Cross Indoor Track and Field Shines in 2024-25 Season

The 2024-25 indoor track and field season at Holy Cross was a remarkable one, marked by record-breaking performances, multiple individual titles, and significant team success.

In the women's 60-meter hurdles final, senior Ella Grey finished second (8.53), while Celia Kulis placed fourth (8.65) and Lauren Clark came seventh (9.03). Grey, who broke the school 60m hurdles record five times this season, also had a chance to threaten the program record in the 100m hurdles this Outdoor season.

Meanwhile, senior Joshua Exantus dominated the men's 60m hurdles, finishing first (8.12), and freshman Khalil Antoine finished third (8.24). Antoine also won the High Jump (2.13 meters) and added a fourth-place finish in the Triple Jump (14.76). His impressive performances earned him multiple Patriot League Athlete of the Week honors this Winter.

The women's 4×400 relay squad placed second (3:47.92) and the Distance Medley team set a new school record (11:45.68) in fourth place.

However, the standout performer of the season was undoubtedly junior Olivia Murphy. She won the Patriot League indoor titles in the one-mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter events, setting meet records in the mile (4:40.14) and 5,000m (16:21.28) during the Indoor Track and Field Championship. Murphy also earned Patriot League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet honors with meet record wins in the 1,500m and 5,000m, and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in those events.

Murphy's dominance extended to cross country as well, where she secured the Patriot League Women’s Cross Country individual title and earned Runner of the Meet honors. Her performances earned her recognition as the Patriot League's 2024-25 Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The men's team finished 5th out of 9 with 53 points, while the women placed 6th out of 10 with 48 points. Despite this, the team's overall rankings reflected strong competitiveness in the Patriot League and at the Northeast regional level during the indoor season.

In addition to the track and field success, the Women's Lacrosse team concluded its season with a record of 4-12 overall and 2-7 in the Patriot League. On the other hand, the Holy Cross Baseball team earned the 2025 Patriot League Regular Season title.

The Holy Cross Cross Country teams participated in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, but specific details about their performance in this event are not provided. The Baseball team also commemorated the jersey retirement of four athletes: Louis Sockalexis, Jack Barry, Owen Caroll, Jim O'Neil, and Ron Perry. Louis Sockalexis, one of the athletes whose jersey was retired, is a notable figure in Holy Cross sports history.

In summary, the 2024-25 Holy Cross Indoor Track and Field season was successful with record-breaking individual titles by athlete Olivia Murphy, multiple meet records, strong team competitiveness in the Patriot League, and academic honors, positioning Holy Cross among the top programs in their league and region during that indoor season.

The Holy Cross athletics department showcased exceptional performance in various sports events during the 2024-25 season, with the indoor track and field team being particularly noteworthy. Olivia Murphy, a standout athlete, excelled in multiple events, breaking records and earning titles in the one-mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter events at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship. Moreover, her dominance extended to cross country, where she was awarded the Patriot League's Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
