Hollywood's Persistent Fascination with Past Ages, as detailed by Colin Trevorrow
Got some dirt on the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth, eh?
Colin Trevorrow, the brains behind Jurassic World and Jurassic World Dominion, is once again spilling some prehistoric beans about his views on the timeless appeal of dinosaurs on the big screen.
At 48, Trevorrow has made a massive impact on the Jurassic Park universe, and he doesn't see the fascination waning anytime soon. "We built something that's got staying power. I reckon every time a baby takes its first breath, another dinosaur aficionado joins the ranks," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Trevorrow believes that the magic of dinosaurs, with their mystery and raw power, keeps audiences hooked worldwide. So, it comes as no surprise that Jurassic World Rebirth is slated for release on July 2.
When asked about his new direction for the film, Trevorrow shared that although it takes a slight detour from the initial concept, he's found a way to keep those mighty dino beasts running wild, interacting with the modern world in a compelling and believable manner.
"I like to think of dinosaurs as real animals rather than movie props. When a tiger busts loose in town, they get corralled quickly—same with dinos. So, it's all about logic and finding sensible ways to make it work," Trevorrow explained.
Dino fans unaware of the details might be surprised to know that Trevorrow isn't directly involved in the production of Jurassic World Rebirth. Despite this, his principles and rules set the foundation for the franchise, ensuring a faithful nod to the original vision while blurring the lines between prehistory and the present-day in a gripping manner.
The animated shows on Netflix, as well as the theme parks and toys, continue to build upon his ideas of a balanced, engaging Jurassic Park universe. So, despite his absence from the director's chair this time, Trevorrow's fingerprints remain all over the series.
The Jurassic Park franchise has evolved, and it will continue to grow with each passing generation, thriving on Trevorrow's philosophy of pushing boundaries while maintaining a strong connection to the classic Mikey Crichton concept. And that's a pretty dinosaur-sized win right there, don't you think?
The upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth will be available on Netflix worldwide, showcasing Trevorrow's enduring vision for the franchise. In an interview, PTI reported that Trevorrow mentioned the film takes a different approach while keeping the dinosaur action believable and engaging. Despite not being the director of the film this time, Trevorrow's principles and ideas are still central to the series, contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the Jurassic Park universe in movies, television, and other forms of entertainment.
