Hollywood Veteran Christian Slater Discusses Strange Aspects of Stardom After Half a Century in the Film Industry
Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after five decades in the biz? Christian Slater thinks that fame always has a strange appeal.
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - It's no secret that Christian Slater, the 55-year-old "Heathers" star, got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And while fame can be tricky, the actor admitted it's always a little trippy.
During his acceptance speech, Slater spoke candidly about the challenges of being under the limelight for years. "I mean, there's cameras everywhere, you're really a lot more under the microscope than you were. So it's got its fair share of challenges to deal with," he explained.
But Slater also acknowledged that he feels blessed to be doing what he loves. "I am very lucky that I get to do something that I truly love to do," he declared. He hopes his passion for his craft helps him grow and continue working with incredible people.

The ceremony had an emotional touch, as Slater reflected on his connection to Hollywood Boulevard, the famous street the Walk of Fame is found on. His father lived there when he was a kid, and Slater later performed at the Pantages Theater with legends like Dick Van Dyke. He even learned how to skateboard on the boulevard for his flick, "Gleaming the Cube."

Video"I remember walking around this street and seeing the names of the actors, the movie stars, on the ground, and I never thought or dreamed that I would have my own," he said, embracing the little-kid excitement.
Sarah Michelle Gellar honored Slater during the ceremony, praising his numerous legendary performances, from "Heathers," "Pump Up the Volume," "True Romance," "Dear John," and "Mr. Robot." Gellar even shared that she had Christian Slater posters hanging in her teenage bedroom.
Slater later thanked his family, including his wife, Brittany Lopez, for making him "feel seen."
