Hollywood offer declined by Fahadh Faasil from director Alejandro González Inárritu
Fahadh Faasil, the acclaimed Malayalam actor, recently turned down an offer from Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu for a role in a Hollywood film. The main issue was the director's concern about Faasil's natural accent, which needed correction for the Hollywood project.
Accent training required a 3–4 month stay in the US without pay, which Faasil was unwilling to do financially and creatively. After a video call with Iñárritu, the talks ended when these concerns surfaced. Faasil does not regret the decision and wishes any further growth to happen within Kerala’s Malayalam film industry rather than overseas.
Fans on social media express divided opinions about Faasil's decision, but the actor remains committed to his artistic path in Malayalam cinema. His belief in the importance of the Malayalam movie industry to his career is evident, as he has consistently chosen to work within this industry throughout his career.
Fahadh Faasil is one of the most versatile actors in Indian cinema, with notable films like Joji, Malik, and Kumbalangi Nights under his belt. His clarity in values contributes to his status as a rare figure in cinema today, as he values authenticity over ambition and prefers to keep his accent and identity intact.
Meanwhile, another prominent Malayalam actor, Mammootty, is set for a comeback after a seven-month break. Fahadh Faasil's last release, Pushpa 2, increased his visibility among audiences across India, further solidifying his position in the industry.
